Pouring rain in Hawaii

This was actually in a breakfast restaurant near Waikiki Beach. When we got there it was raining and then it started pouring. So hard that one of the drip mouldings broke and half the place was "flooded". Luckily they didn't have any carpet.
Never would've guessed to see something like this on Hawaii. ;D
Happy Friday.

Freedom of choice

Suddenly I feel free. Last week I was feeling horrible, this week the world is full of possibilities.

LIFE IS GREAT!!

Looking over the clouds

From Mauna Kea. This little trip to the Mauna Kea Observatories was definitely the best part of the whole Hawaii vacation.

During my masters course I will go for another big trip with the school, it will either be Brazil or China. Since we can take off on our own after the company visits, I plan to take the trip to China, because I really want to see South Korea and Japan. After all I want to learn Japanese, I already have tons of podcasts and a dictionnary for it. I think I will start with a class at the adult education center in Autumn.

Sky over Waikiki

Since the winter is back in Leipzig and it is dark and grey, but my mood is fantastic since I finally have a job and the start is getting nearer and nearer, let's get back to Hawaii. This pic I took one evening from our balcony in our hotel room on Waikiki Beach, no photoshopping. Waikiki is overrated, I prefer Big Island, but you already know that, don't you?

Ouhh, look who is chatty today. Seems my mood is majorly improved. *grin*

Kauai - one of the pools

Our hotel had two pools and oh about 200meters to the beach. So you can probably understand, why this hotel desperately needed its pools. ;-)

Enjoy your weekend everyone.

Kauai - sunset from our hotel room

Fernweh is better than Heimweh. So this pic is for you, Chris. Miss you too!

(Yes, I know it is blurry, but looking at a lot of photography "art" today told me that focus is overrated. ;-) Just think that it was meant this way and not due to the fact that I didn't use a tripod. *snicker*)

Apropos art, second Wednesday of the month, so the Museum of ... Art in Leipzig has free entrance, this means Art Day for me. Wohoo. (And Starbucks Chocolate Mocha with cream!) I just hope that they have a good exhibition. The last two were crap in my opinion.

Have a great Wednesday.

Kauai Canyon

As I said before Kauai is perfect for hiking. And I would've loved to hike in those amazing canyons, unfortunately we didn't have a guide for these canyons and I didn't have any hiking boots with me, so no hiking for me.

But goodness, doesn't this canyon look awesome?!!

Leipzig got some sun and warm weather today, so I did some "hiking" here. The snow is melting, so you can't really call it walking. And I really wonder why I put the effort in cleaning my shoes. They are stained all over again! Grrr.

Mauna Kea Observatories in evening light

It was a half day trip I booked at Big Island (they've got tons of fun stuff like helicopter flights, dolphin watching and so on) and that I first thought of as being expensive (About 200 $, but including dinner and stargazing after enjoying the sunset between the observatories. It was perfection. Best part of my Hawaii vacation!!), but it was worth every penny. LOVED IT.

If you go to Hawaii, Big Island is best in my opinion, forget Oahu (you can go shopping anywhere, you don't have to go to Hawaii for it. But the pineapple icecream at the pineapple plantation is delicious.) or Kauai (except for hiking).
