Big News

Entrance to the Karlsruhe Zoo (No, this is not my new work place!)

As you might have realized this blog has been relatively quiet. However I have a very, very, very good reason for it:

I will move to Karlsruhe at the end of June, because on July 2nd I will start in my new job, which is THE job at THE organization. Naturally I'm really excited about this opportunity, this change.

So right now I'm quite busy with wrapping up projects here in Leipzig and preparing for the move. I still have to find a room for the first three months, but I don't consider it a challenge since the summer holidays come up and a lot of the students will sublet their rooms.

Karlsruhe is a beautiful city in my opinion and has a good size. Throughout the last three years I've visited a lot of german cities and most of them I found pretty ugly and I wouldn't want to work or live there, like the Ruhrpott (Yes, it's more than one city, I know that.) or Berlin.

My personal Top 5 of german cities worth living in:

1. Stralsund
2. Leipzig
3. Dresden
4. Potsdam
5. Karlsruhe

Anyway, I've got a busy afternoon ahead of me.

For the 3rd post I chose the salt refinery in Bad Dürrenberg. I didn't know it until I went there with Chris and we've had such fun. Photographing, listening to the story of the refinery and just enjoying this very day.

I know we are running a bit late, but Chris is nearly drowning in work and I had a dental surgery last week from which I recover much slower than I thought I would. So anyway, for January it's just me running this blog, but I'll do my best. ;-)

Good Morning. Isn't it fabulous? A new week has started. With possibilities abound. Let's make the best of it.

Thankfully I'm back on late shift, therefore I have more time on my hands to get my stuff done and check out your blogs.

How was your Sunday? I enjoyed mine thoroughly. Sleeping in, taking a looong shower, dressing up and going into town to enjoy Caffe Lattes and write down the epiphanies I had this Saturday. As a matter of fact I wrote so much, that I filled up my moleskine notebook and am now switching to my red knitted cover benetton notebook that Chris gave me as an early christmas present, one week early. Awesome.

Leipzig street art - Karl-Heine-Boulevard (Straße)

I took this picture on 2nd July during a street festival on the Karl-Heine-Street or as the organisers called it: the Karl-Heine-Boulevard. In any case Chris and I had a fantastic time on that Saturday. When we waited in line for our Rostbratwurst, which was barbecued by a really, really, really cute guy I saw this picture on the wall and had to photograph it. Or did Chris tell me to take the picture? I don't remember anymore and it doesn't really matter anyway. So there you have it, some street art from Leipzigs streets and the best is, there is more to come.  ;-)

Pumpkin time in Rust, Austria

Let me introduce you to a nice little town at a big flat lake in Austria and Hungary, the town is called Rust. It is really beautiful, has great coffee and wine places (with great coffee and selfmade wine), several galleries and studios and in September and October there are huge amounts of pumpkins and Sturm*.

* literal translation is storm. It's a wine that is still in its fermentation process and tastes fantastic.

This was the view from my hotel room in Oldenburg. It looks like it's going to be a nice day weatherwise, but unfortunately clouds rolled in and so it rained and was grey for the rest of the day. 

However Oldenburg is a really nice city and definitely worth a visit.

Work takes its toll

Yes we are slacking, thing is I started working again two weeks ago. So when I get home I don't really want to see my MacBook anymore. 

However I still wish you a wonderful new week.

SANSSOUCI - No Worries

Last Saturday I've been to SANSSOUCI Park in Potsdam, so naturally I have a few impressions for you.

The Dragon house. It is lovely to look at, but the food is overpriced and not good. I've had an Ice Coffee and it was horrible (watery and the icecream left a film in my mouth. ugh and that for 4,20€ I prefer any Starbucks coffee any time.)

Potsdam is definitely a city I could live in happily. Stuttgart and Munich would be my nightmare cities, because of the horrible architecture and the missing water and parks.
